Thailand is taking another step toward becoming a leading digital travel destination with the trial launch of the Thailand Immigration Management (THIM) application, developed by the Thailand Immigration Bureau to simplify entry and immigration procedures for foreign visitors. The platform enables travelers to register their information digitally before arriving in Thailand, helping streamline entry processes and improve the overall travel experience.
Through THIM, users can scan their passports using a mobile device, allowing the system to automatically capture and store personal information. The application is integrated with the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) system, allowing travelers to submit accommodation details, travel information, and the purpose of their visit in advance. The system can process registrations in under three minutes on average and supports group registrations for up to 10 travelers.
The Immigration Bureau noted that the initiative is designed to strengthen the efficiency of immigration services while supporting national security objectives and reducing friction that may impact Thailand's tourism reputation. The platform is also expected to help reduce congestion at airports and immigration offices. It also improves access to immigration services for foreign nationals residing in Thailand under various visa categories.
The THIM application is currently available for trial download on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android), and currently supports English, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese, with plans to expand language options in the future. Full implementation is scheduled for August 2026, when THIM will serve as a comprehensive digital platform for immigration services, including appointment bookings, application submissions, document requests, and application status tracking.
