Thai PM Set to Visit Russia to Strengthen ASEAN Ties at Russia-ASEAN Summit 16–19 June 2026

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is scheduled to travel to Russia from 16 to 19 June 2026, to attend a special Russia-ASEAN Summit. According to the Russian Embassy in Thailand, the summit will officially take place on 17–18 June in Kazan, marking a landmark occasion as Russia and ASEAN celebrate 35 years of diplomatic relations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended official invitations to the leaders and heads of government of all ASEAN member states, including Brunei, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. A special representative from Myanmar and the ASEAN Secretary-General will also be in attendance.

During the summit, leaders will discuss key international and regional issues to shape the future of political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and ASEAN. The talks are expected to conclude with the signing of several bilateral agreements to guide the relationship going forward.

Alongside the main summit, the Russia-ASEAN Business Forum will be held on 17 June 2026. This event will bring together top entrepreneurs to boost trade, investment, new joint ventures, and youth initiatives.
