The Government, through the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Airports (DOA), has announced the "New Route – New Airline" measure, offering a 50% reduction on landing and parking fees to encourage the opening of new flight routes and to attract airlines to operate in more regional airports. The measure is effective from 10 August 2026 to 9 August 2027, under the "Airport for Regional Development" policy.
The benefits under this measure are divided into two categories:
• New Route: A 50% discount for one year for routes that have never been operated before or have been suspended for at least one year.
• New Airline: A 50% discount for six months for airlines that have never operated at a specific airport or have suspended services there for at least one year.
This applies to both domestic and international flights at airports under the Department of Airports.
Interested airlines may submit their proposals to the Department of Airports for approval, as the Government looks to expand regional air networks to distribute income, boost tourism, and drive sustainable community economies.
