Ever wondered what it takes to host 15,000 of the world's top finance leaders and economists? Bangkok is about to find out.
Thailand is set to host the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group from 12–18 October 2026, at Bangkok's Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, marking the country's return as host 35 years after 1991.
Known as the "Olympics of Finance," this mega-event will welcome delegates from 191 countries, roughly the population of a small city, all landing in one place for one week, under the theme "Thailand's New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience.
The meetings will deliver an immediate lift to hospitality, transport, technology, and local service sectors. But the impact won't stop there, a successful event will cement Thailand's place as a premier regional MICE destination, opening doors to future global investment, business partnerships, and international cooperation.
This is more than an economic summit. It's a showcase of people-centered, sustainable development rooted in Thai heritage. Local craftsmanship will shine through 37 textile patterns from 26 communities across 21 provinces, woven into the venue's décor and acoustic design. Guests will also savor the best of Thai cuisine, from organic jasmine rice grown in Thung Kula Rong Hai to premium produce sourced from across the kingdom.
The meetings may last just seven days, but the confidence, investment, and goodwill they generate will shape Thailand's global standing and economic momentum for years to come.
