Thai films, series, animation, and documentaries have been quietly winning hearts worldwide. Now Thailand is putting the systems in place to make that lasting.
The Thai Media Fund has approved a five-year plan to manage the intellectual property behind the creative work it supports — built around a simple idea: "Dual Value." Great content should enrich society and sustain itself economically. Not one at the expense of the other.
What that looks like in practice:
• A national database of creative works and their rights
• Clear quality standards for funded productions
• Stronger distribution channels at home and abroad
• Transparent licensing terms, so international partners know exactly how to work with Thai creators
• Sustainable models for adapting and building on existing stories
And success won't be judged by revenue alone. Every project is measured across three dimensions — financial return, media and in-kind value, and genuine social impact on the people who watch it.
As Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office Supamas Isarabhakdi, who chairs the fund, put it: work supported by the fund should keep creating value long after release. That means protecting creators' rights, raising the bar on quality, and finding audiences far beyond Thailand's borders.
Safe, creative, meaningful media — made in Thailand, made for the world.
