According to digital travel platform Agoda, for the first half of 2026, Bangkok ranked second in Asia among the Return Visitor Ranking of Asian Cities, following Tokyo. Bali ranked third, followed by Seoul and Osaka.

The top five destinations retained their positions from last year, reflecting their enduring appeal to travellers seeking diverse experiences.

Agoda noted that Bangkok remains a perennial favourite, captivating visitors with its vibrant street life, world-class dining, and iconic cultural landmarks such as the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. The city is also emerging as a regional hub for health and wellness tourism.

Other Thai destinations also cater to different travel preferences. Phuket is well suited for long stays and workations, while Pattaya appeals to families. Chiang Mai attracts slow-life travellers and digital nomads, while Hat Yai remains a popular weekend getaway for visitors from Malaysia and Singapore.

The city’s vibrant appeal extends well into the night. Bangkok was ranked the world’s best city for nightlife in 2026 by Time Out, which praised its diverse scene, ranging from converted shophouse bars and cabaret clubs to rooftop lounges and LGBTQ+ venues across the city. With entertainment continuing day and night and a late-night dining scene that never slows down, Bangkok continues to stand out as a dynamic destination for repeat visitors.
