Phuket is once again coming alive with color, music and devotion as the island hosts its 2nd annual Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, running from 14-18 September 2026 at Shrimant Ganpati Temple in Rawai.

Under the theme "A Bridge of Faith and Culture," the festival brings together Thai and Indian communities, along with tourists and visitors, to honor Lord Ganesha through religious ceremonies, cultural performances and traditional practices that celebrate the deep-rooted ties between Thailand and India.

The celebrations kicked off with a vibrant procession of Lord Ganesha through Phuket Old Town, winding past the district's iconic Sino-Portuguese architecture and drawing curious crowds of locals and tourists alike. A standout moment came with a electrifying performance by two Dhol-Tasha drum groups, over 50 performers strong, straight from India.

Throughout the festival, visitors can also experience a series of meaningful rituals and cultural showcases, including Rishi Panchami, the recitation of Ganapati Atharvashirsha, Ganesh Yag ceremonies, Indian cultural performances, and the striking 56 Bhog Seva, a traditional offering of 56 food items to Lord Ganesha.

The festival will draw to a close on 18 September with Ganesh Visarjan, a moving farewell ceremony where devotees will carry the image of Lord Ganesha from the temple to Rawai Beach for immersion in the sea. More than just a religious celebration, the festival is a beautiful reflection of Phuket's multicultural spirit, offering everyone a chance to experience the island's rich traditions alongside its world-famous beaches and attractions.
