Thailand Brings Authentic Muaythai Standard to France

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris and in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), is advancing Thailand's cultural diplomacy by presenting the Standard Muaythai Gym (SMG) certification to Phenix Muay Thai Paris.

The initiative aims to raise the standard of Muaythai instruction in France. It includes expert-led training clinics where local enthusiasts can learn authentic techniques directly from specialists.

Paris is among the world's cities with the strongest interest in Muay Thai. The SAT emphasizes accurate fundamentals to ensure students' safety, issues visa support letters for those wishing to study Muaythai in Thailand, and is developing a registration system for training there. Nearly 5,000 foreign learners come to Thailand each year to study the sport.

The cooperation also promotes Thai culture and traditions such as the Wai Kru ceremony, while generating tourism revenue through programs like Muay Thai First Fight, which gives students real in-ring experience. Beyond the sport itself, the programs support self-defense, fitness, and professional career pathways.

Through efforts like these, Muaythai continues to bridge cultures, strengthening the long-standing ties between Thailand and France and establishing the art firmly on the global stage.
