Thailand's Siam Mantra Troupe has made history by winning two first runner-up awards at the 2026 Andong International Mask Dance Festival in South Korea.
Backed by the Ministry of Culture, the troupe stood out among dozens of international entries to secure second place in both the group and three-person categories. Culture Minister Sabeeda Thaised congratulated the performers for showcasing Thai cultural identity on the global stage. The festival ran from 25 September to 4 October, and this result marks Thailand's first top-three finish in the competition in over a decade.
In the group category, the troupe's "Land of Gold" concept blended contemporary masks and traditional Thai arts to finish behind Russia. Meanwhile, their three-person performance used a poetic moon metaphor to depict the human mind, placing second behind Latvia.
Through these stunning performances, Siam Mantra has proven that timeless Thai artistry can captivate the world, filling the nation with immense pride.
