Thailand Rolls Out a New Roadmap to World-Class Tourism

Thailand is gearing up for the next chapter of its tourism story. Permanent Secretary of Tourism and Sports Natthriya Thaweevong chaired an orientation meeting for the 4th National Tourism Development Plan (2028-2032). Public, private, and community partners came together to turn policy into action by aligning goals, plans, budgets, and evaluation metrics.

The plan's vision is clear: "Thailand as a World-Class Quality Tourism Destination." It tackles the challenges ahead, including:
● Sharing tourism revenue with local communities
● Developing the tourism workforce
● Refining regulations to encourage investment
● Coping with climate change
● Connecting data across agencies

Five pillars will drive the plan:
1️⃣ Value: Raising quality and adding value to Thai tourism
2️⃣ Sustainability: Driving responsible tourism and balanced growth
3️⃣ Competitiveness: Strengthening the industry's edge
4️⃣ Resilience: Building a tourism system ready for any disruption
5️⃣ Connectivity: Improving management through data integration and inter-agency collaboration

A highlight of the event was a Talk Session with experts from the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), the Tourism Council of Thailand, Local Alike, and tourism influencers. They shared insights on sustainability, staying competitive in a fast-moving global market, giving back to local communities, and meeting the expectations of next-generation travelers.

This meeting marks a vital step in fostering a shared sense of ownership among all stakeholders to drive high-quality, inclusive growth and sustainably position Thailand as a world-class tourism destination.
