Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 has introduced three mascots—Wapi, Khumbha, and Khun Thong Boran—which reflect the province’s natural environment, prehistoric heritage, and distinctive local identity.
The first mascot, “Wapi,” meaning pond, represents the abundant wetlands and the close connection between nature and local communities. Its design draws inspiration from the Red Lotus Sea, one of Udon Thani’s famous natural destinations.
The second mascot, “Khumbha,” meaning pot, celebrates the cultural significance of the Ban Chiang Archeological Site, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. Inspired by prehistoric pottery, the mascot highlights the region’s ancient civilization, including its way of life, agriculture, and technological development.
The last mascot, “Khun Tong Boran,” takes its name from a canine skeleton discovered at Ban Chiang in 2003. Its outfit features patterns of Ban Chiang pottery and traditional indigo-dyed textiles, symbolizing friendship and the province’s unique identity.
Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 will run from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027 at Nong Dae Wetland in Udon Thani Province. More information is available at www.udonthaniexpo2026.com and the Udon Thani Expo 2026 Facebook page.
