As the world celebrates the spirit of the Olympic Games, the anticipation for another significant sporting event builds: the Paralympic Games. The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, scheduled from August 28 to September 8, 2024, will welcome athletes from around the globe, including a remarkable contingent from ASEAN countries.
This year, more than 100 athletes from ASEAN nations have qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Thailand will have the largest group, with 59 athletes set to compete, as confirmed by the National Paralympic Committee as of July 11, 2024. Indonesia follows with 32 athletes, while Malaysia and Singapore will be represented by 16 and 12 athletes, respectively. The Philippines will send five athletes, and Vietnam will have four competitors. Cambodia will also be represented by one athlete at the games.
The participation of athletes from six Southeast Asian countries highlights the region's growing influence in para sports.
