Deputy Finance Minister Paopoom Rojanasakul confirmed that Thai government has allocated 180 billion baht for the second phase of its digital wallet scheme, ensuring adequate funding for the program. The first phase, which reached 14.5 million beneficiaries, including state welfare cardholders and people with disabilities, successfully utilized its 145-billion-baht budget.
Although the second phase will move forward, its specifics and timeline will be decided by the economic stimulus committee, chaired by the prime minister. Paopoom mentioned that around 200,000 people encountered issues with the 10,000-baht transfers during the first phase due to unlinked PromptPay accounts, but noted that this is a relatively small figure. Additional transfer dates have been scheduled for October 22, November 22, and December 22 for those who link their accounts in time.
