On October 11, 2024, Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub announced that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra had successfully represented Thailand at the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Lao PDR, held from October 9-11, 2024. During the first two days, she participated in 10 meetings, showcasing Thailand's global stance and aiming to bring comprehensive prosperity to the nation.
At the 27th ASEAN-China Summit, she stressed the significance of ASEAN-China relations in fostering regional peace and prosperity, supporting economic integration, security cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
During the 25th ASEAN-ROK Summit, the Prime Minister introduced the 'ABC Vision' (Advanced Technology, Balanced Development, and Creative Economy) to enhance strategic ties between ASEAN and South Korea.
At the 27th ASEAN-Japan Summit, she proposed an inclusive strategic partnership focusing on digital, green energy, and innovation.
At the 27th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit, she emphasized tackling current challenges in East Asia through cooperation in combating transnational crime, ensuring food and water security, and maintaining financial stability.
She also held a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who praised Thailand’s establishment of the Thailand Creative Culture Agency (THACCA), noting its role in promoting the country’s content and soft power industries. He also expressed South Korea’s willingness to collaborate with Thailand.
In a separate meeting, Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), invited the Prime Minister to attend the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos next year to discuss Thailand’s economic potential in areas like infrastructure and food.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau commended Thailand’s Marriage Equality Act during their meeting and affirmed Canada’s readiness to deepen educational and vocational cooperation with Thailand.
In discussions with Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he endorsed Thailand’s "Six Countries, One Destination" tourism initiative aimed at boosting the Southern border economy, noting Malaysia’s top rank in foreign tourists visiting Thailand.
The Prime Minister also met U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, who praised Thailand's proactive efforts in strengthening ASEAN-U.S. relations and promoting peace and stability. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to comprehensive cooperation.
Lastly, in a meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, 2025 was designated as the "Golden Year of Friendship" to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, with plans to hold a Joint Committee meeting soon to boost trade and investment ties.
