On October 22, 2024, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry unveiled the logo and theme for Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. The chosen theme, "Inclusivity and Sustainability," reflects the core values of Malaysia’s vision as chair of ASEAN.
The logo, designed by Muhamad Khalis Syafiq, is inspired by the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Malaysia’s national flower. It symbolizes the country’s rich culture while representing the unity and identity of the ASEAN community. The flower’s five petals curve inward towards the ASEAN logo at the center, symbolizing Malaysia's commitment to fostering a peaceful, stable, and prosperous ASEAN.
The central placement of the ASEAN logo highlights the concept of ASEAN centrality, reinforcing its role as a regional framework for collaboration and unity. The encircling petals further symbolize ASEAN's collective resolve to achieve long-term sustainability among its member nations.
The colors blue, red, yellow, and white used in the logo reflect the main colors of the flags of ASEAN member states, emphasizing the theme of unity across the region.
According to Malaysia's Foreign Minister, Malaysia is dedicated to ensuring that ASEAN remains free, peaceful, and neutral.
