Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mr.Suriya Jungrungreangkit, proudly announced that Suvannabhumi International Airport has been ranked by UNESCO as one of the world’s most beautiful airports in 2024.

In addition to this prestigious recognition, the Midfield Satellite 1 building, the newest addition to Suvannabhumi Airport, has been nominated for the Prix Versailles Award in the Airport category. The Prix Versailles Selection Committee, in collaboration with UNESCO, will announce the winner on December 2nd.

The Midfield Satellite 1 building stands out with its four-story design, seamlessly blending architecture, identity, and artistic expression to create an exceptional experience for all passengers. This innovative space emphasizes sustainability in both cultural and environmental aspects, particularly through the presentation of intricate details reflecting Thai heritage and identity, aiming to leave a lasting impression on visitors to Thailand.

The design is a visual celebration of Thai culture, combining aesthetic appeal with cultural significance. The building’s interior features a harmonious fusion of modern architecture and traditional Thai art, encapsulating the country’s identity while integrating seamlessly with the airport’s contemporary structure.

A key feature of the design is a magnificent sculpture of a Thai elephant (Chok Saran) positioned in the central hall on the third floor, the departure area for passengers. This piece, along with the overall design, highlights Thailand's rich history, identity, and lifestyle, offering a cultural experience that enhances every passenger’s journey.
