Thailand now welcomes love in all forms, as marriage registration under the Marriage Equality Law officially begins today.

In a landmark step toward equality and diversity, all 878 district registration offices nationwide are ready to facilitate marriage registrations for every couple. Additionally, special off-site registration events are taking place at major shopping malls in key cities to celebrate this historic milestone.

Today (January 23, 2025), the first LGBTQIA+ couple officially registered their marriage at Siam Paragon, marking the beginning of a new era of inclusivity. The event was co-organized by Bangkok Pride, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and various equality-supporting organizations under the theme "Marriage Equality", commemorating Thailand’s first day of equal marriage registration.

Couples across the country can now register their marriage at any of the 878 district registration offices under the new law.

The enactment of the Marriage Equality Law is a proud moment for Thailand on the global stage. The country has earned widespread recognition from Western nations, including those in Europe and the Americas, for being one of the first countries in Asia to legalize marriage equality.

This milestone reaffirms Thailand’s leadership in advancing LGBTQIA+ rights internationally, particularly within the United Nations framework. It also reflects the nation’s strong commitment to building an open, inclusive society where equality and human rights are fully respected and upheld.
