Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines Among World's Top 40 Destinations for Digital Nomads

Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines have secured spots on the list of the world's 40 best countries for digital nomads, according to a report by VisaGuide.World.

Thailand ranked 31st, followed by Malaysia at 32nd and the Philippines at 36th. The rankings were based on key factors such as internet speed, taxation policies, visa income requirements, cost of living, healthcare services, and tourism appeal.

Thailand stood out for its high-speed internet, quality healthcare, and strong tourism sector. Malaysia and the Philippines received praise for their affordability.

To attract digital nomads, Thailand launched the Destination Thailand Visa, allowing stays of up to 180 days, valid for five years, with a 10,000-baht (US$283) application fee and a financial requirement of 500,000 baht. Malaysia introduced its digital nomad visa in October 2022, requiring applicants to have an annual income of at least $24,000. The Philippines followed suit in June 2023 with its own program.

"Digital nomads prefer sunny weather and welcoming places with many tourists," said Lum Kamishi, project manager at VisaGuide.World.

Spain topped the list as the best country for digital nomads, followed by the UAE and Montenegro.
