Thailand Travel Continues as Normal; Enhanced Security Measures in Limited Border Areas

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) confirms that travel and tourism activities across Thailand continue to operate normally and remain unaffected.

TAT has, however, issued a travel advisory noting heightened security measures in seven provinces along the Thailand–Cambodia border: Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat.

Martial law is currently in effect in selected districts of Chanthaburi (Mueang Chanthaburi, Tha Mai, Makham, Laem Sing, Kaeng Hang Maew, Na Yai Am, and Khao Khitchakut), Sa Kaeo (Khok Sung, Ta Phraya, Aranyaprathet, and Khlong Hat), and Trat (Khlong Yai, Bo Rai, Laem Ngop, Khao Saming, and Mueang Trat). In addition, curfews restricting movement between 7.00 p.m. and 5.00 a.m. are in place in four districts of Sa Kaeo from 10 December 2025 and in five districts of Trat from 14 December 2025, until further notice.

Despite these localized measures, domestic and international transport services—including air, rail, bus, and marine travel—continue to operate as usual. Major tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, and Ayutthaya remain fully open and welcoming visitors.

Some temporary adjustments have been made to transport services in affected border areas. The State Railway of Thailand has suspended train services to the Ban Khlong Luek Border Checkpoint, while certain bus routes serving Kantharalak District have been rerouted with alternative boarding and drop-off points. Travelers are advised to avoid restricted border zones and follow guidance on affected routes.

These measures are limited to specific border areas only. Other parts of the affected provinces continue normal operations under local authority supervision. Travelers are encouraged to follow instructions from local authorities and stay informed through official channels when planning visits to border-adjacent areas.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, TAT, the Tourist Police, and relevant agencies remain available to provide real-time information and assistance. Travelers may contact the TAT Call Centre at 1672 or the Tourist Police Hotline at 1155, available 24 hours a day.
