Da Nang is accelerating plans to position itself as Vietnam’s leading high-tech cultural hub by 2030, leveraging a “Twin Treasures” strategy that combines rich cultural heritage with advanced digital technology.
Under the strategy, the city aims to integrate iconic cultural assets—such as the nearby ancient town of Hoi An—with cutting-edge innovations including virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), strengthening Da Nang’s role in Vietnam’s cultural and creative industries.
Several flagship projects are already in the pipeline. My Khe Beach is set to be transformed into what is envisioned as the world’s first Interactive Media Art Park, featuring 3D sand art installations and large-scale drone light shows. Meanwhile, the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) area will be developed into natural performance spaces, with caves and cliffs adapted as open-air theaters for immersive night-time shows.
City authorities have set an ambitious target for the cultural industry to contribute more than 13 percent of Da Nang’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) by 2030, reflecting the sector’s growing importance to economic development and Vietnam’s soft power projection.
