Singapore to Officially Launch the “Singapore Space Agency”

Dr. Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Energy and Technology, revealed that Singapore is preparing to establish the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS), which will be formally launched on April 1, 2026. The agency aims to drive growth and enhance the country’s capabilities in the space sector, including the establishment of a multi-agency operations centre to provide satellite imagery and geospatial data analytics services to government agencies. These services will support a wide range of applications, such as urban planning, environmental monitoring, port operations, and food security.

The Singapore Space Agency will operate under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and will build upon the existing role of the Office for Space Technology and Industry. Its expanded mandate will include strengthening international cooperation, developing space-related laws and regulations that support innovation and business growth, and upholding high standards of space safety and sustainability.

To support these efforts, the Singapore government has allocated more than SGD 200 million for research and development in space technologies since 2022 and will continue investing in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, space situational awareness, and low-gravity research related to human health.
