Luang Prabang Province of the Lao PDR won 21 ASEAN Tourism Awards at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026. This achievement brings the province’s cumulative total of ASEAN tourism awards to 93, reflecting its strong commitment to developing high-quality and environmentally sustainable tourism.
Awards received by the public and private sectors include:
• ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award for Luang Prabang City
• ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award for the Luang Prabang National Museum
• ASEAN Green Hotel Awards for several hotels in Luang Prabang
• ASEAN Event Venue Awards for event venues in the area
The receipt of sustainable tourism awards by both public sector agencies and private tourism operators in Luang Prabang reflects close collaboration between the public and business sectors in driving and advancing sustainable tourism development.
In addition, the Luang Prabang National Museum has been rated as a four-star national tourist attraction and has undergone continuous improvements to visitor facilities, including visitor service centers, walkways, restrooms, and safety systems. Relevant authorities are planning further upgrades to elevate the museum to a five-star national tourist attraction, along with expanded activities and services to further enhance sustainable tourism development in the future.
