A commemorative banknote has been printed to commemorate the “Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 28th July 2024."
Governor of the Bank of Thailand Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput stated that the Bank of Thailand had been granted royal permission from His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua to print and issue the commemorative banknote, in gratitude for His Majesty the King’s graciousness.
The issuance allows the public to collect the banknote to commemorate this significant occasion and to participate in expressing loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty the King.
The 100-baht commemorative banknote will be issued in the quantity of 10 million notes. It was designed in a vertical format to portray the prominence and elegance of His Majesty the King’s image and to distinguish it from circulating banknotes.
The banknote was printed on polymer substrate with state-of-the-art technology to retain its durability and incorporate counterfeit-deterrent features. It is legal tender and can be exchanged at 100 baht each.
The front of the banknote depicts His Majesty, with the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Illustrious Order of Chula Chom Klao breast chain, and the “Yellow Star” flower, or ruang phueng, the symbolic flower representing King Rama X. The back features a portrait of His Majesty holding a sword, as well as an image of ratchaphruek (Cassia fistula Linn.), the national flower.
The Bank of Thailand will also issue two million banknote display sleeves, available for 10 baht each. All proceeds will be presented to His Majesty the King for royal charities at his discretion.
The commemorative banknote can be purchased at any commercial bank and at the Government Savings Bank, the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, the Government Housing Bank, the Islamic Bank of Thailand, and the Bank of Thailand Learning Center from 23 July 2024 onward.
