The Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, is organizing an International Ramayana Festival in honor of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (Rama X) for the “Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 28th July 2024.”
The festival is scheduled for 12-15 July 2024 at three places: the Main Auditorium of the Thailand Cultural Center, Sanam Luang ceremonial ground, and ICONSIAM in Bangkok.
Minister of Culture Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol said that joining the festival are cultural troupes from eight countries, namely India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Visitors will learn more about cultural heritage and wisdom through the performance of Ramayana by each participating country.
The program of the festival is as follows:
1. Main Auditorium, Thailand Cultural Center, on Friday, 12 July, between 17.00 and 19.30 hr;
2. Main Auditorium, Thailand Cultural Center, on Saturday, 13 July, from 13.00 to 15.15 hr (for students), and at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground between 20.30 and 22.00 hr;
3. Main Auditorium, Thailand Cultural Center, on Sunday, 14 July, from 13.00 to 15.15 hr (for students), and at Suralai Hall, ICONSIAM, from 19.00 to 21.00 hr;
4. Main Auditorium, Thailand Cultural Center, on Monday, 15 July, from 13.00 to 18.00 hr.
