Beach Cleanup Campaign in Honor of His Majesty the King

The Royal Thai Navy will hold a beach cleanup campaign in honor of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty's sixth-cycle birthday anniversary, 28 July 2024.

The cleanup activity will be organized in cooperation with the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center. It involves garbage collection along 22 coastal provinces across the country. In Sattahip District, Chon Buri Province, the beach cleanup activity is scheduled for Wednesday, 24 July 2024, between 13.00 and 14.30 hr.

The goal of this campaign is to reduce the amount of marine debris. The vast majority of marine debris is plastic, and plastic products can be very harmful to marine life. Everyone can help reduce the problem.

The cleanup campaign is also intended to raise awareness about the importance of keeping the shores and beaches clean, since the trash in the seas may cause serious impacts on the wildlife and human health, and can also affect economic activities, such as tourism and fishing.

Both coastal and marine debris have negative ecological and socio-economic effects on fishery, shipping, and recreational activities. People may help reduce waste by not throwing it into the sea.

Chon Buri, the venue for the beach cleanup campaign on 24 July, is recognized as the gateway to various eastern coastal provinces. It is one of the three provinces in the Eastern Economic Corridor, which is being strongly promoted by the Government as the best and most modern economic zone in ASEAN.

The province has a long coastal area of about 160 kilometers and is noted for picturesque seaside destinations, cultural attractions, and entertainment facilities, in addition to excellent seafood. One of the well-known beach resorts in this province is Pattaya, which has been acclaimed a popular tourism destination by both Thai and international tourists.
