The public may purchase and reserve commemorative coins and medals issued on His Majesty the King’s auspicious occasion, the celebrations of His Majesty’s sixth-cycle birthday anniversary.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Karom Polpornklang said that the commemorative coins and medals have been produced by the Treasury Department to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and to show gratitude for His Majesty’s boundless benevolence.
His Majesty the King has worked tirelessly for the people, as seen from numerous royal activities and royally initiated projects that ease the people’s difficulties and bring them benefits and happiness. The issuance of the commemorative coins and medals is also meant to pay tribute to His Majesty and to make His Majesty’s prestige be known far and wide on this auspicious occasion.
The commemorative coins will be available from 24 July 2024 onward at the Treasury Department on Rama VI Road, Bangkok, Monetary Management Division on Phahonyothin Road, Pathum Thani, Coin Museum on Chakrapong Road, Bangkok, and 76 Regional Treasury Offices nationwide. People may also purchase them online at the Treasury Department’s website: www.treasury.go.th.
There are five types of commemorative coins:
1. Polished gold coins are priced at 50,000 baht;
2. Polished silver coins are priced at 3,000 baht;
3. White coins (copper-nickel mixture) are priced at 50 baht;
4. Polished white coins (copper-nickel mixture) are priced at 200 baht; and
5. White coins (copper-nickel mixture) are priced at 20 baht.
As for commemorative medals, there are three types: gold medals (60,000 baht), smoked sandblasted silver medals (10,000 baht), and smoked sandblasted copper medals (3,000 baht). Reservations for commemorative medals will be accepted from 24 July to 30 August 2024 at the Treasury Department, tel. 0 2278 5439, and 0 2618 6340, and online at www.treasury.go.th.
In addition, there are also medals on ribbon bands for men and women. Each is priced 1,600 baht. They will be available from 24 July onward.
