Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok invites Buddhists to attend the Mahachat Preaching, to be held on 30 November – 1 December 2024, in honor of His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s sixth-cycle, or 72nd, birthday anniversary.
The event will take place at the Pibulsonggram meeting room, 12th floor, Chaloem Phrakiat Building, Rajavithi Hospital. It is intended to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Building. The building is scheduled to be opened on 1 December 2025.
Mahachat Preaching, or Thet Mahachat (Sermon on the Great Life), is the story of the last former life of the Buddha, when he was Prince Vessantara. It is composed of 13 chapters.
Regarded as a grand merit-making ceremony for Buddhist Thais, the Mahachat Preaching is a method of teaching people to do good and not to conduct themselves in harmful ways. It is also meant to pay homage to the Buddha.
