Nationwide Ban on Drone Operations to Safeguard National Security Regarding Thai–Cambodian Border Situation

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has issued an urgent notification prohibiting the operation or release of all types of unmanned aircraft systems (drones) across the entire country. This restriction is effective from 30 July 2025 until 15 August 2025, or until further notice.

The measure has been implemented as a preventive response to potential national security and safety risks stemming from the ongoing unrest along the Thai–Cambodian border. The ban aims to support security operations and ensure public safety in sensitive areas.

Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of CAAT, stated that the prohibition is in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, which authorize CAAT to suspend drone operations during periods that may threaten national peace and security.

He emphasized that violators will be subject to legal penalties under the Air Navigation Act B.E. 2497 and its amendments, which include imprisonment of up to one year, or a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both. Furthermore, military personnel are authorized to destroy any unmanned aircraft deemed a threat to national security.

Any person who witnesses or has knowledge of drone operations in violation of this notification is requested to report the incident immediately. The report should include the date, time, location, description of the drone, and, if available, photographic or video evidence. Reports can be submitted through one of the following channels:
