The Joint Press Center on the Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation on 4 January 2026 at 15.00 hr clarified to the public and domestic and international media that accusatory statements and communication based on distortion of the facts may constitute:
1. Failure to comply with mutually agreed-upon de-escalation measures;
2. Provocative actions and communication that may undermine the atmosphere of trust;
3. Accusations that do not fully reflect the facts, potentially leading to misunderstanding within the international community.
The Joint Press Center believes that any such accusations are detrimental to efforts to resolve the situation and urges the Cambodian side to:
• Refrain from provocative communications or actions;
• Utilize agreed-upon mechanisms for transparent fact-finding.
Thailand reiterates its readiness to maintain regular and direct lines of communication in accordance with the Joint Statement, paragraphs 14 and 16, and pursue negotiations, diplomacy, and mutually agreed peaceful mechanisms to maintain peace, stability, and security for the people of both sides.
