A: The JIC visited the area to provide encouragement to military personnel and civilians and to listen to firsthand accounts from the field, so as to be able to communicate to the public the information from the actual situation in a comprehensive and transparent manner.

A: The area in question has continuously been part of Thailand for more than 40 years. There is clear evidence underscoring the care, use and management of the area by the Thai side. In the past, Thailand allowed Cambodia to use part of the area as a temporary refugee camp for humanitarian reasons, but their presence was not subsequently withdrawn as it should have been.

A: These actions are to ensure the safety of the people in the area, prevent risks from unforeseen events, and reduce the likelihood of conflict. This action is in accordance with the Joint Statement agreed upon by both sides on 27 December and is not intended to provoke or create tension with any side.

A: The Thai side has continuously carried out clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance in the area to protect the lives and property of the people in the long term, as well as to support the safe return to normalcy of the border communities.
