The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is joining hands with nine leading partnership organizations in launching the “Village to the World Season 5” project, aimed at building on the aspirations of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother for natural resource conservation.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said that the project links nine royally initiated project areas and model communities across the country, with an emphasis on creating an ecological system for community-led tourism, under the concept of “Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Tourism.” It is also intended to improve local people’s quality of life and promote balanced and sustainable growth in the local economy.
She explained that the Village to the World project enters its fifth year in 2026 and that TAT intends to translate the royal aspirations of the Queen Mother into community tourism development. This project is regarded as a public-private-community partnership for sustainable, high-value, and quality tourism.
The nine routes connecting royally initiated project areas and model communities are as follows:
1. TAT and Ban Sachuk-Sakiang Royal Highland Agricultural Development Project in Khun Nan Subdistrict, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Nan Province, to develop local tourism sites and homestay services, together with agro-tourism;
2. Social Enterprise Thailand Association, Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Center, and Baan Amphur Waste to Value & Coastal Conservation Community Enterprise in Sattahip District, Chon Buri Province, to develop the potential of the local sea turtle conservation area and fishing community;
3. Bank of Ayudhya Public Company, Ko Kerd Folk Arts and Crafts Center, and Ko Kerd Community in Bang Pa-in District, Ayutthaya Province, to develop a local education and culture area into a Thai craft conservation zone;
4. PTG Energy Public Company, Doi Bae Lae Royal Highland Agricultural Development Project, and Ban Pa-an in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province, to develop a clean energy tourism route linking with the community way of life;
5. PTT Global Chemical Public Company and the “Forest Protection for Life” Flag Project in Community Forest Areas in Hua Taphan District, Amnat Charoen Province, to develop a learning center for low carbon and the circular economy;
6. NEXTOPIA Siam Paragon, Small House in the Big Forest Project under the Royal Initiative (Doi Dam), and Ban Namon Mu 7 (Doi Dam) in Wiang Haeng District, Chiang Mai Province, to develop a natural tourism route and an unseen tourist site;
7. Thai AirAsia Company, Khlong Hoi Khong Farm in Songkhla, and Ecotourism Songkhla Thailand Community Enterprise / Tambon Hua Khao Community in Singhanakhon District, Songkhla Province, to develop a gastronomy tourism route;
8. Toyota Motor Thailand Company and Nong Rahan Chin Demonstration Farm under the Royal Initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, in Mueang Ang Thong District, Ang Thong Province, to develop a smart model farm linking with the OTOP community;
9. Ziga Innovation Public Company, Demonstration Sea Farm under the Royal Initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, and Salt Farming School in Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province, to develop a modern and sustainable coastal ecotourism site.
