The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is revamping the 1.6-kilometer “Green Bridge” walking and cycling corridor, which connects Lumphini and Benjakitti parks, to enhance safety and accessibility.
The project includes five key improvements:
- Green connectivity—Reinforcing steel and concrete structures while creating a forest ambience. The new design also connects the city’s business districts in Witthayu, Sarasin, and Ratchadapisek;
- Universal design—Installing lifts and ramps, making the bridge accessible to all;
- Activity spaces—Resurfacing a 500-meter path with sport materials to reduce impact and creating an area for activities;
- Renewal of deteriorated areas—Making areas under the bridge more open, clean, and safe in order to open spaces for community-based economic activities;
- Safety and lighting—Equipping lighting and CCTV cameras connected to the BMA’s central control system.
The project is scheduled for completion by mid-2026.
