Royal Humanitarian Assistance to the Republic of Türkiye

Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana have graciously designated Mr. Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Privy Councilor, as Their Representative to grant the royal donation of humanitarian assistance to the people and the government of the Republic of Türkiye.

The royal donation was delivered through Mrs. Serap Ersoy, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Thailand, at a ceremony held on 15 February 2023 at the Royal Thai Airforce Base, Wing 6, in Bangkok.

It aims to help relieve the suffering of those affected by the massive earthquake, which took place in the Republic of Türkiye recently.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the royal donation comprises a number of tents, duvets, winter sleeping bags, small power generators, dried food, milk, and drinking water. These items were delivered to Ankara, Republic of Türkiye, by the Royal Thai Air Force on the same day.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye expressed her sincere gratitude to Their Majesties’ boundless generosity.

Since the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced the highest “Level 4” disaster warning and called for international humanitarian aid, the estimated death and injury tolls have continued to rise to 35,148 and 105,505 respectively, with about 12,141 buildings and residences destroyed.

Previously, on 9 February, Thailand sent an urban search and rescue team to help in rescue and relief operations in Türkiye, along with relief materials, medical supplies, and other equipment.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha also delivered an initial humanitarian contribution of five million baht (about 150,000 USD) from the Royal Thai Government to the Government of Türkiye.
