His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has called on Thai people to join hands definitely and firmly. If there are any obstacles, they should face them mindfully and wisely and work together to tackle the problems with rationale, principles, and purity of mind.

His Majesty the King appeared on television on Sunday, 31 December 2023, to deliver his New Year speech to Thai people at Ambara Villa, Dusit Palace. 

In his speech, His Majesty urged the people to adopt knowledge and ability of every side and use them properly, keeping pace with the situation. By joining hands together, the country would progress and the people would continue to live happily and peacefully.

His Majesty said that 13 October each year was designated King Rama IX Memorial Day to commemorate the death anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. The statue of King Rama IX at the King Rama IX Memorial Park had been inaugurated. On 13 October 2023, a great number of people came to pay respect and tribute to the statue in remembrance of the late King.

It was also gratifying that UNESCO had inscribed the “Ancient Town of Si Thep” in Phetchabun province on the World Heritage List. The inscription brought great joy to the Thai people.

His Majesty said that Thailand has maintained its prestige and integrity, while gaining international recognition, because Thai people have joined forces in conducting good deeds for the benefit of the majority. For instance, various projects for the development of the people’s quality of life have proved successful and satisfactory, as they have been carried out jointly by the public, private, and people’s sectors.

Moreover, everyone has also offered a helping hand in treasuring, preserving, and building on Thai cultural heritage. It is evident that the khon masked drama performances, organized by the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques (SUPPORT), have achieved great success. The SUPPORT Foundation was established under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.

On the occasion of the New Year, His Majesty sends his best wishes to everyone. A New Year card for 2024 has also been issued by Their Majesties the King and Queen conveying their New Year wishes to the people.
