The Bureau of The Royal Household issued an announcement on 20 April B.E. 2568 (2025), concerning the State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen to the Kingdom of Bhutan.
According to the announcement, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen will pay a State Visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan on 25-28 April B.E. 2568 (2025), at the invitation of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan. His Majesty the King accepted the gracious invitation with deepest appreciation. The visit will strengthen even further the already close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two Kingdoms. These ties are deeply rooted in the shared heritage of Buddhist faith and in the longstanding close affinity between the two Royal Families and between the two peoples.
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, Their Majesties the King and Queen will be welcomed by a senior member of the Bhutan Royal Family before travelling to the capital Thimphu. In the afternoon, Their Majesties will proceed to Tashichho Dzong, where Their Majesties will be greeted and given the Official Welcome Ceremony by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bhutan, followed by the review of a Guard of Honour. Their Majesties will then proceed to the Tendrelthang Festival Ground to view parades, processions, and cultural performances. At the Festival Ground, crowds of people will also assemble to greet them with a warm welcome. In the evening, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bhutan will host a State Banquet in honour of Their Majesties at Dechencholing Palace.
On the second day of the visit, Their Majesties will visit the venerated site of the Buddha Dordenma to attend a Buddhist prayer chanting ceremony performed by 74 Thai and 74 Bhutanese monks.
On the same day, Their Majesties will also receive in audience His Majesty King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan, who will be honouring them with a gracious call.
Later that afternoon, Their Majesties will proceed to the Dechencholing Royal Project to view exhibitions on the collaboration between the Royal Projects of Thailand and their Bhutanese counterparts, as well as displays of products from the One Gewog One Product (OGOP) project. Their Majesties will also grant an audience to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
On the third day of the visit, at the Lingkana Palace Grounds, various displays and selected activities will be presented to Their Majesties showcasing Bhutanese customs, arts and culture, including traditional archery and games, handicrafts, textiles, and garments. In addition, Their Majesties will visit the Kaja Throm, where they will view an exhibition on the farmer’s market and be briefed on the De-suung Skilling Programme.
On the fourth and last day of the visit, at the Dungkar Dzong in Paro, Their Majesties will pay homage to the Shakyamuni Buddha image, visit the Royal Academy, and view exhibitions on the Gelephu Mindfulness City, a key project of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
Their Majesties the King and Queen will depart from the Military Air Terminal, Don Mueang, on Friday, 25 April by a royal aircraft, scheduled to leave at 07.00 hr, and will return by the said aircraft, which is scheduled to arrive at the Military Air Terminal, Don Mueang on Monday, 28 April at 19.30 hr.
