Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana is interested in many sports and is recognized as a role model in encouraging people to pay attention to playing sports for good health. Her Majesty is also known for her flying ability and has flown as co-pilot, with His Majesty the King as pilot, during their travels to perform royal duties on some occasions.
Her Majesty the Queen plays several sports, such as ice hockey, sailing, cycling, and running, and has practiced these sports intently, enabling Her Majesty to join several competitions.
For instance, when Their Majesties the King and Queen presided over the opening of the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena in Chiang Mai Province in October 2023, Her Majesty also participated in this competition, joining athletes on the ice to the delight of the crowd of people, who gathered to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty's sporting talent.
Her Majesty the Queen also joined the Thai national team and participated in the ice hockey competition at the Thailand-China Ice Hockey Friendly Match, co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand on 6 October 2024. The event took place at the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena in Bangkok, in celebration of His Majesty the King’s sixth-cycle birthday and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
On 1 December 2024, Her Majesty Queen Suthida participated in the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2024, with the participation of about 30,000 runners from more than 70 countries worldwide. In this marathon, Her Majesty joined the world-famous marathoner Eliud Kipchoge in the final 10 km of the race.
Regarding her flying ability, Her Majesty the Queen attended several flight training courses in Thailand and abroad. Her Majesty also received a commercial pilot license from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
During the state visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan by Their Majesties the King and Queen on 25-28 April 2025, His Majesty the King flew the royal aircraft from Thailand to Bhutan, with Her Majesty the Queen serving as co-pilot. As for the return journey to Thailand, His Majesty also piloted the royal aircraft himself while Her Majesty served as the co-pilot. The captivating moment as His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen personally piloting the royal aircraft was described as a new dimension of state visits.
