HM the Queen Makes Thai Fabric Attractive to the World

Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana has paid great attention to wearing locally made textiles and showcasing them to the eyes of the international community, which will help make Thai culture and traditions even better known. 

Her Majesty’s keen aesthetic sense serves her well in selecting costumes that reflect Thai identity and local wisdom, and at the same time look captivating and exquisite. It is evident that Her Majesty’s wearing of Thai fabric has been admired both locally and internationally.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida paid a state visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan from 25 to 28 April 2025. During the state visit, Her Majesty dressed in beautiful Thai textiles designed by combining Thai and international styles.

The Thai textiles she wore were created by the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques (SUPPORT), which was established by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in 1976. Among its objectives is to preserve time-honored crafts, techniques, and skills. 

Her Majesty Queen Suthida has played a role in making the world appreciate the beauty of Thai fabrics, especially silk, which is notable for its unique features and intricate craftsmanship, and it is one of Thailand’s best-known handicrafts.

Thai silk is also part of the country’s “soft power,” which is gaining in prominence.
