Featured in Vogue USA and Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), renowned art, culture and fashion magazines, the exhibition “La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity” is taking place at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
It is held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya of Thailand and presents the evolution of Thai court dress, craftsmanship, and Thailand’s cultural heritage on the international stage through more than 200 exhibited pieces, particularly royal attire belonging to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, alongside exquisite accessories, textiles, and artisanal objects.
Organized in celebration of the 170th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and France, the exhibition will be on view from 13 May to 1 November 2026. It is also intended to honor the legacy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, recognizing her role in using fashion as a form of cultural expression and diplomacy, while elevating Thai silk and traditional craftsmanship to international recognition.
Highlights also include collaborations with internationally renowned fashion houses, such as Pierre Balmain, Erik Mortensen, Valentino Garavani, and Lesage, demonstrating the fusion of Thai craftsmanship with European haute couture.
Both Vogue and WWD emphasize Queen Sirikit’s important role in shaping Thailand’s international image through fashion, particularly by blending traditional Thai textiles and craftsmanship with modern global design. The exhibition also highlights the development of the Eight Styles of Thai National Dress, which remain the foundation of formal women’s attire in Thailand today.
It also features works by contemporary Thai designers, showcasing how Thailand’s cultural heritage continues to inspire modern fashion and creative industries on the global stage.
