Mr. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, was granted an audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall, Dusit Palace, on 9 October 2026 at 5.09 p.m.

The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste was received by Their Majesties during his official visit to Thailand from 9 to 10 October as a guest of the Thai government. During the visit, Thailand and Timor-Leste discussed potential areas for Thai investment in Timor-Leste, focusing on agriculture, food processing, energy, infrastructure, tourism, and hospitality services. Both sides are also preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

Since 2001, Thailand has provided more than 800 scholarships and training opportunities to Timor-Leste. Currently, under the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Project on Children and Youth Development is being implemented in six schools in Timor-Leste to improve children’s nutrition and health.

Thanks to Her Royal Highness’s support, Timor-Leste has participated in the biennial Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA), honoring outstanding teachers and benefiting six exemplary educators from rural areas so far.
