A recent episode of CNN’s Seasons features Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, Thailand’s royal fashion designer and cultural visionary, whose work bridges centuries-old Thai craftsmanship with the contemporary world of international haute couture.
Her Royal Highness showcased eight styles of Chud Thai (Thai national dress) for ladies and three types of national dress for men. Thailand has nominated “Chud Thai: The Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” to be inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2026.
Previously, Her Royal Highness participated in the CNN’s Global Perspectives: In Bangkok at The Ritz-Carlton on 14 October, at the invitation of CNN International President Ellana Lee. The Princess attended two panel discussions, “Fabric of the Nation” and “Cities That Win the Future.”
The Fabric of the Nation session honored Her Royal Highness’s contributions to preserving traditional Thai textiles, supporting local craftsmanship, and connecting centuries-old weaving techniques with contemporary fashion. The discussion also focused on how traditional fabrics convey Thailand’s cultural identity and preserve knowledge passed down through generations.
