Bangkok has been named the 13th best food destination in the world for 2023, according to Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel guidance platform.

Tripadvisor's rankings are based on insights from millions of real travelers who visited various destinations in the past year and left their feedback on Tripadvisor. As many plan trips around opportunities to enjoy cuisine, it has issued its top food destinations list.

In its report, Tripadvisor writes, "Golden palaces, floating markets, majestic porcelain-laid spires…you've never seen a capital city quite like Bangkok. Visit Pratunam or Siam Square for premium shopping, then unwind in the European-style gardens of Dusit. Thon Buri is home to the awesome Wat Arun temple, and over in Phra Nakhon, you’ll find the Wat Pho temple of the Reclining Buddha. Savor mango sticky rice at a food stall before taking in the gilded splendor of the Grand Palace.”

Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs and Acting Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri said that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha was pleased to learn about the ranking of Bangkok. He is confident that that the charms and diversity of Thailand, especially in terms of food, places of interest, and cultural heritage, will attract travelers from all over the world.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government would continue its policy to stimulate tourism, as well as making Thailand’s "soft power” better known worldwide. This would help increase the country’s economic value and generate income for communities.

Thai food is one part of Thailand’s soft power among others that are being promoted by the Government. It has been popular globally, for many years, and countless travelers have visited Thailand to savor the authentic and wonderful taste of Thai food.

Bangkok has also been known as a gastronomic paradise by many visitors. Its cosmopolitan flavor is particular evident in the vast variety of foods offered by countless restaurants. In Bangkok, diners can enjoy all of Thailand’s regional cuisines. The city has also been named as one of the world’s best destinations for street food and roadside dining.
