Young Entrepreneurs Urged to Join Hands in Moving Thailand Forward

Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has urged young entrepreneurs to join forces in moving Thailand forward, saying that they play an important role in connecting the young generation with the old generation.

A total of 77 members of the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (YEC) from 77 provinces, led by Chairman of the Board of Trade of Thailand and the Thai Chamber of Commerce Sanan Angubolkul, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at Government House on 17 February 2023.

Representative of the YEC reported to the Prime Minister the progress of two pilot projects that received financial support from the Government. The first project, “Young Public and Private Collaboration,” has been carried out in Rayong province. It has arranged training between January and April 2023 for the new generation of leaders from the public and private sectors in eight eastern provinces.

The second one, “Lampang Smart Public Transportation,” seeks to facilitate the travel of tourists in Lampang province with reasonable prices. The project was launched on 19 August 2022.

Several other projects will also be carried out, such as those concerning the food industry, waste separation for a sustainable economy, and the presentation of Thai identities through Thai food, under the project known as “Bangkok the Legend.”

The group of young entrepreneurs thanked the public sector for allowing young entrepreneurs from all provinces to participate in activities for national development. They are also preparing projects to connect with young entrepreneurs overseas in order to encourage the new Thai generation to take part in enhancing the country’s competitiveness.

The Prime Minister said that the Government is striving to tackle all problems faced by the country for a better future and is also ready to look after the welfare of all groups. He said that Thailand was able to get through various problems amidst the COVID-19 situation and trade war. The country’s fiscal position has now become stronger.

He pointed out that tourism and service sectors were the strength of the country. The Government aims to promote the creative economy, linking it with tourism through the use of “soft power.” The Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model has been adopted to promote tourism, as well, for sustainable growth in the long run.
