Daily Minimum Wage to Be Increased from 1 January 2024

The Cabinet, during its meeting on 26 December 2023, acknowledged the announcement made by the Ministry of Labor to increase the daily minimum wage in all 77 provinces between 2 and 16 baht, effective on 1 January 2024.

The announcement was made following the decision by the tripartite wage committee, comprising representatives of the Government, employers, and employees. The largest increase is in Phuket, while the smallest increase is in Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala, depending on the economic situation.

According to the committee, the new wages in all provinces have been set after listening to the views of all relevant parties. The decision must not adversely affect the country’s overall economy and result in higher prices of products and inflation.

Altogether, 17 groups of provinces will receive the new daily minimum wage, as follows:

1. 370 baht: Phuket;
2. 363 baht: Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon;
3. 361 baht: Chon Buri and Rayong;
4. 352 baht: Nakhon Ratchasima;
5. 351 baht: Samut Songkhram;
6. 350 baht: Khon Kaen, Chachoengsao, Chiang Mai, Prachin Buri, Ayutthaya, and Saraburi;
7. 349 baht: Lop Buri;
8. 348 baht: Nakhon Nayok, Suphan Buri, and Nong Khai;
9. 347 baht: Krabi and Trat;
10. 345 baht: Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, Chiang Rai, Tak, Nakhon Phanom, Buri Ram, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phang-nga, Phitsanulok, Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Songkhla, Sa Kaeo, Surat Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani;
11. 344 baht: Chumphon, Phetchaburi, and Surin;
12. 343 baht: Nakhon Sawan, Yasothon, and Lamphun;
13. 342 baht: Kalasin, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Bueang Kan, Phetchabun, and Roi Et;
14. 341 baht: Chai Nat, Chaiyaphum, Phatthalung, Sing Buri, and Ang Thong;
15. 340 baht: Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Maha Sarakham, Mae Hong Son, Ranong, Ratchaburi, Lampang, Loei, Si Sa Ket, Satun, Sukhothai, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Amnat Charoen, Udon Thani, Uttaradit, and Uthai Thani;
16. 338 baht: Trang, Nan, Phayao, and Phrae;
17. 330 baht: Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Srettha Thavisin expects that a new minimum wage will be raised again in the next few months in order to improve the people’s living conditions. It will be submitted to the Cabinet by March 2024.
