Krabi International Airport in the southern province of Krabi is ready to welcome more visitors during the cool season 2024-2025, when a great number of tourists head to the Andaman Sea for marine attractions.
Deputy Minister of Transport Manaporn Charoensri said that, during the high season, Krabi Airport receives more than 160 domestic flights, 60 international flights, and 90 charter flights each week. She had instructed relevant agencies to prepare for a significant rise in flights, which are expected to increase by 60 percent from October 2024 to March 2025.
Mrs. Manaporn said that, in order to cope with the expected higher number of passengers, Krabi Airport is arranging more personnel to provide services for passengers, who are also urged to use check-in services through various applications, electronic identification through the Thai ID application, and self-service boarding pass scanners.
The number of check-in counters will be increased from 14 to 16 to ease congestion. Moreover, public transport will be provided within the airport to facilitate the travel of passengers.
Krabi boasts not only beautiful beaches, but also many scenic islands. The Government intends to develop Krabi Airport into one of the travel hubs in the Andaman region, with an emphasis on international standards and public safety. The development will help stimulate the local economy, as well as promoting local tourism and business.
At present, six domestic airlines are operating regular flights to Krabi. They include Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Thai Vietjet, Thai Lion Air, Nok Air, and Thai Airways International. International airlines include Flydubai, Scoot Tigerair, and Malindo Air. As for charter flights, they include TUI fly and LOT Polish Airlines.
