Moving toward Developing Thai Industries and SMEs with “4 GO” Mechanism

The Government is ready to work with the private sector in industrial development, with an emphasis on the “4 GO” mechanism to upgrade Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the nation's move toward sustainable development.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on 13 February 2025 presided over the opening of the “FTI Expo 2025” at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Organized by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) on 12-15 February, under the concept “Empowering Thai Industry, Elevating Thailand’s Future,” the event serves as a platform bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, and experts from diverse industries, both locally and globally.

The Prime Minister cited the industry as a major force to move the Thai economy forward and help increase the country’s GDP, saying that the private sector plays a vital role in strengthening Thai industries. The Government would support industrial growth, which would lead to not only the production of goods but also the development of human resources.

She said that the Government aims to develop various dimensions of the industrial sector, which also involve industrial transformation, the development of new growth engines, and the creation of an ecosystem favorable to large investments in infrastructure and human resource development.

This development, she said, will upgrade the quality of production, so that Thai manufacturing products will receive more recognition in the international community. It will also add value to Thai products and services and provide greater opportunities for the country as a whole.

The Prime Minister said that the Government has a policy to develop SMEs, and that any law that hinders SME development would be amended in order to open up more opportunities for SMEs to increase investment to enhance their potential.

In driving Thailand’s industrial development while upgrading SMEs into "Smart SMEs," the 4 GO mechanism will be emphasized. The four aspects include (1) GO Digital & AI, (2) GO Innovation, (3) GO Global, and (4) GO Green.

The Prime Minister also called for closer cooperation between the public and private sectors in research and development, which would lay down firm foundations for industrial development, saying that the Government is ready to provide support.
