Suvarnabhumi Ranked Second among the Best Airports in 2025

Thailand's largest airport, Suvarnabhumi, has been ranked as the second-best airport in the 2025 DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards.

The ranking is based on votes from readers of DestinAsian, a leading travel magazine in the Asia-Pacific region, which highlights high-quality travel experiences. It is determined by such criteria as service quality, safety, and overall passenger satisfaction.

Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub said that the award for Suvarnabhumi reflects the country’s commitment to enhancing the quality of airport facilities and services to meet the needs of travelers from all over the world.

According to DestinAsian, the five best airports in 2025 include (1)
Singapore Changi Airport, (2) Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, (3) Hong Kong International Airport, (4) Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, and (5) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is operated by Airports of Thailand, which aims to develop Thailand into a global aviation hub in order to enhance the country’s competitiveness, promote the tourism industry, and provide more economic opportunities, in line with the Government’s policy.

Thailand has great potential to become a global aviation hub, as it is located in the middle of the Asia-Pacific region, borders four neighboring countries, and receives privileges from ASEAN aviation liberalization.

The Thai government plans to increase the capacity of Suvarnabhumi Airport, so that it will be able to accommodate about 200 million passengers annually in the next five years. Currently, Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of Asia's busiest. Its Midfield Satellite 1 (SAT-1) was named one of the world's most beautiful airports for 2024 by Prix Versailles, a series of architectural competitions announced each year by UNESCO. The Midfield Satellite 1 terminal is a four-story building with two basements. The terminal covers an area of 260,000 square meters.
