Striving for Equal Opportunities in Education through ODOS Summer Camp

The Government has launched the “ODOS Summer Camp” program to promote equal opportunities in education for young people and broaden their experiences at the international level, as well as enabling them to learn various cultures and new technologies.

Speaking at a press conference on the program at Government House on 20 March 2025, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra stressed the Government’s intention to ensure that all young people have equal access to educational opportunities.

She explained that the “One District One Scholarship (ODOS)” program began over 20 years ago through the granting of scholarships to enable students to continue their studies up to university level either in Thailand or abroad.

The Prime Minister stated that the One District One Scholarship program also serves as a key mechanism to create equal opportunities in education for young people. In the past, this program emphasized educational opportunities on a long-term basis.

As for the ODOS Summer Camp program, it lasts a short period of six weeks, when participating young people will be provided with opportunities to gain knowledge and experiences overseas and practice necessary skills for the future of the country. Interested persons may apply for the program through the "Thang Rat" government application from 24 March to 16 May 2025.

Target students under the program include students at upper secondary level, the lower-level certificate of vocational education, the higher-level certificate of vocational education, and university level. These students come from 878 districts in the provinces and 50 districts of Bangkok.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet on 18 March approved a budget of 2.8 billion baht from the 2025 National Expenditure to support the “Student Loan Fund,” aimed at providing loans to students from low-income families to pursue university education. This will increase higher education opportunities for them. In the 2025 academic year, the loans will be offered to needy students, starting from April onward.
