Thailand’s Ranking in the World Happiness Report 2025

Thailand ranks 49th in the World Happiness Report 2025, moving up nine places from 58th in 2024. It has also registered the most improvement in Asia.

The World Happiness Report is published annually by the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Center in partnership with Gallup and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, as well as other leading experts and researchers. The happiness ranking is based on Gallup World Poll data from people in more than 140 countries.

According to the World Happiness Report 2025, topping the global happiness list is once again Finland, which has managed to keep its No. 1 ranking for eight consecutive years.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Anukul Prueksanusak stated that Thailand scored 6.22, making it the third happiest country in the ASEAN region and 49th globally, after Singapore (34th) and Vietnam (46th). The Philippines (57th) ranks fourth in ASEAN, followed by Malaysia (64th), Indonesia (83rd), Lao PDR (93rd), Cambodia (124th), and Myanmar (126th).

Six key factors used in analyzing data include gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and corruption. This year the World Happiness Report gives special attention to the impact of caring and sharing on people’s happiness.

Mr. Anukul said that Thailand ranks eighth in terms of social support, which reflects strong relationships among the Thai people, who continue to help one another, especially at family and community levels. In GDP per capita, Thailand ranks 81st in the world.

He said that the country is likely to enjoy greater economic stability, as the economic outlook in recent years has improved. While Thailand’s ranking in the World Happiness Report has climbed nine places, the country still needs more improvements to develop people’s quality of life on a sustainable basis, so that Thailand would become an even happier country in the future.
