The Cabinet retreat, held in the northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom on 29 April 2025, approved a charity lottery project to fund scholarships for Thai students under the Outstanding Development Opportunity Scholarship (ODOS) scheme.
The launching of the charity lottery project was proposed by the Ministry of Finance to support seven scholarship programs to enable students to have greater access to educational opportunities, both in Thailand and abroad. In the initial stage, it involves a budget of 5,308.14 million baht.
The seven scholarship programs are as follows:
1. Scholarships for short-term training in digital technology overseas for young people from 878 districts across the country and 50 districts in Bangkok;
2. Scholarships for 60 students at the higher-level certificate of vocational education and for 140 students at university level to study abroad;
3. Scholarships for 60 students at university level to study in the United States in science and technology;
4. Scholarships for 50 students at university level to study in the United Kingdom in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM);
5. Scholarships for 60 students at the higher-level certificate of vocational education and for 30 students at university level to study in Australia;
6. Scholarships for 2,200 students at university level to study in the fields of STEM in Thailand;
7. Scholarships for 4,800 students at upper-secondary level and at the higher-level certificate of vocational education to study in the fields of STEM in Thailand.
