Thailand is scheduled to organize various activities to celebrate the “Pride Month” in more than 40 provinces nationwide from 25 May to 5 July 2025 to recognize the LGBTQ+ community and their contributions to society.
As part of the celebration, the Bangkok Pride Festival 2025 will take place on 30 May-1 June, under the theme “Born This Way,” at Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Square One, and Lido Connect. It promises to be one of the world’s largest and most impactful Pride celebrations. The three-day event also features Bangkok Pride Forum 2025, Bangkok Pride Awards 2025, and DRAG BANGKOK Festival 2025.
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai said that the festival aims to open a space for diverse groups and gender identities are able to come together and communicate that Thailand is committed to respecting human dignity and equality without discrimination.
She said that various sectors of society had joined hands in pushing for the implementation of the Equal Marriage Act, which came into force on 23 January 2025. This also reflects the Government’s firm intention to emphasize human rights, as well as gender equality and diversity. The Equal Marriage Law allows same-sex couples to legally marry and enjoy the same rights and benefits as opposite-sex couples.
Minister Jiraporn invited everyone to take part in the Bangkok Pride Parade on 1 June, between 14.00 and 22.00 hr, which is expected to draw over 300,000 participants. The parade includes seven major color-themed processions, each highlighting different facets of LGBTQIAN+ identity and experience.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong cited the Bangkok Pride Festival 2025 as an important event to boost the country’s economy and tourism, apart from serving as a forum for community power. It would also promote a favorable image of Thailand as an open country recognizing gender diversity.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is also vigorously working to move Thailand toward becoming a top “LGBTQ+ Friendly Destination.”
